Something I Learned...

The Best Part About Long Field Trips?
The bus rides.

Sometimes the rides to and from the destinations can be even better than the destinations themselves! Other times, they just make the whole experience even better. This was the showdown yesterday on the way home from a wonderful day at Hershey. After a great performance, a large meal at Red Robin, and a wonderful shopping spree at the Hershey Outlets, the gang got onto the bus and started the journey by blasting some Jersey Boys hits, like Sherry Baby on the portable iPod speakers my friend Deanna brought along. This song is special to the group because our choir director's name is actually Sherry, and we love singing the song when she is around. The rest of the journey consisted of at least 45 minutes of laughing about inside jokes, experiences, and silly pictures that we were taking. I've realized that it's the moments like these that I need to keep in my memories of high school. It isn't the big accomplishments or big trips to NYC. It's the little things that happen every day and the moments that truly make a friendship unique and special. Friday was one of those days that I haven't had in a long time, a day of pure fun. So, next time you're on a bus ride with your friends, don't waste your time sleeping or crawling in a ball in the corner with your iPod headphones in your ears blocking out the rest of the world. Take advantage of this close moment with the people you love to be around and make it a memorable one. :)

Always,
Suruchi
