Hanuman Langur, India
Tracking tigers in Ranthambore Forest, I descended a dry grey valley. On the opposite side of the valley I discovered some lovely red blooming trees. I prepared my 600m tele on the tripod, and as I was composing the image I suddenly saw Hanuman langurs, which were treating themselves to the sweet red blossoms.

Polar Bear and Cub, Svalbard
As we watched from our Zodiac, this polar bear gave her cub a lift as she swam across the fjord, shaking herself dry after emerging from the water with her cub hanging on. Polar bear cubs have been known to occasionally ride on the backs of their mothers as they swim together in Arctic waters, possibly to reduce exposure to cold.

Thunderstorm, Florida
It rains almost every afternoon in the sunshine state. I work in a strip mall and left work to threatening, but beautiful, skies. I put on a long lens, intending to shoot only these treetops and sky. It immediately poured rain, forcing me into the car. What a blessing. I used the long lens and focused on the rain-covered windshield. It lessened the depth of field, adding to image distortion, eliminating strip mall clutter, and creating an image with the feel of a Florida afternoon thunderstorm.

Poppy in Field, Geneva
This fragile poppy looked rather strong against the wind in a large wheat field just outside the city center of Geneva, Switzerland.
